Notable apps and updates: June 9

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Adobe has announced the release of updates across its Creative Cloud software suite. The llustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom Classic apps now run natively on Macs with the M1 chip.

Adobe says the result is faster performance. Overall, Illustrator users will see a 65% increase in performance on an M1 Mac, versus Intel builds. InDesign users will see similar gains, with a 59% improvement on overall performance on Apple Silicon.

Zevrix Solutions has released LinkOptimizer 6.0.15, a maintenance update to its image workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign.

The toll is designed to save users time in manual processing through automatic InDesign link size reduction and image properties conversion. Version 6.0.15 helps users avoid the situation where CMYK images slated for PNG conversion could stall the Photoshop processing if the conversion to RGB wasn’t explicitly selected in LinkOptimizer settings.

LinkOptimizer can be purchased from Zevrix website for US$259.95. A “lite” version is available for $179.95. A demo is available for download. The update is free for LinkOptimizer 6.x users and $130 to upgrade from previous versions. LinkOptimizer requires macOS 10.8-11.0 and Adobe InDesign / Photoshop CS5-CC 2021.
