News round-up: Apple announces second annual Chicago Music Summit (and more)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, we’ll frequently offer a wrap-up of news items you should check out.

Apple has announced the second annual Chicago Music Industry Summit starting Aug. 31 at Apple Michigan Avenue for a month of sessions with leaders in the local music scene. Apple describes the month-long event as a way to “connect with others and tap into creative resources to help further your career in music and the arts.”

Apple has released the full-length trailer for The Morning Show, its upcoming drama about a morning news show starring Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Anniston, and Steve Carell. It’s described as “an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women and men who carry out this daily televised ritual.

Disney+, Disney’s upcoming streaming service, will be available on a variety of streaming platforms, including the Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad when it goes live on Nov. 12, according to The Verge. The streaming service will cost $6.99 per month (or $69.99 if paid annually). A $12.99/month bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ will also be offered.

The Business Roundtable has released a new Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation signed by 181 CEOs — including Apple’s Tim Cook — who commit to lead their companies for the benefit of all stakeholders – customers, employees, suppliers, communities and shareholders. The Business Roundtable is an association of chief executive officers of America’s leading companies working “to promote a thriving U.S. economy and expanded opportunity for all Americans through sound public policy.”

Apple will begin selling Powerbeats Pro in Ivory, Moss, and Navy starting starting on August 22 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time from the online Apple Store.

MacVoices completes its on-site Macstock 2019 coverage in a conversation with Lydia Huzij, who talked about the power of Notability and LumaFusion with her Macstock Film Festival entry. Lydia’s effort was a video created on-site during the 500th episode taking of Mac Power Users, and captured Macstock in a nique way.
