First up: As noted by <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/20/09/10/epic-games-ceo-responds-to-apples-countersuit-in-twitter-thread" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a>, Tim Sweeney, Epic Games' CEO, took to Twitter to explain why, in his view, Apple was missing the bigger point of Epic's actions.</p>

<p class="">Apple has released the fifth public beta of macOS 11. The public beta is available on <a href="https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple's Beta Software Program website</a>. Just remember that it is beta software, so proceed with care.</p>
<p class="">Synology is launching the <a href="https://www.synology.com/en-us/products/DS1621xs+">DS1621xs+</a>, a NAS [network attached storage] with a dual-core Intel Xeon processor, built-in 10GbE connectivity and M.2 slots for SSD caching without sacrificing drive bays.</p>
<p class="">SLING TV has launched the latest addition to the <a href="https://c212.net/c/link/?t=0&l=en&o=2913015-1&h=2701370266&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sling.com%2Fsupported-devices%2Fairtv&a=AirTV+family+of+devices" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AirTV family of devices</a>, AirTV Anywhere, a Wi-Fi-enabled network hub featuring enhanced functionality and built-in DVR capabilities. And the Apple TV set-top box is among the supported streaming devices.</p>
<p class=""><a href="http://www.jamf.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Jamf</a>, which specializes in Apple Enterprise Management, announced it is extending its collaboration with Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security by launching iOS Device Compliance, available now in a closed preview.</p>
<p class="">Apple Card wasn’t built for the COVID-19 pandemic, but the card’s key features have held up remarkably well one year post-launch. In a <a href="https://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/apple-card-one-year/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">new report</a>, <a href="http://creditcards.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">CreditCards.com</a> industry analyst Ted Rossman breaks down how Apple Card is faring in its first year and how the unforeseen events of 2020 thus far may have improved Apple Card’s performance</p>
<p class="">Future Apple Pencils may provide haptic (that is, relating to the sense of touch) feedback for, among other things, texture simulation, as hinted by two new patent filings by Apple.</p>
<p class="">A new patent filing (number 20200285314) hints that FaceID may be finally coming to the Mac. It’s not the first such Apple patent filing, so we’ll see, but I’m betting one of the future “Apple Silicon” Macs will offer the feature.</p>
<p class=""><a href="https://apps.apple.com/us/app/a-monsters-expedition/id1449606823" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">A Monster's Expedition</a> is this week's addition to <a href="https://www.apple.com/apple-arcade/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple Arcade</a>, Apple’s US$4.99/month or $49.99/year game streaming service that has over 120 games,. It's available for the the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.</p>

<p class="">Apple's 5-nanometer-based A14X processor will enter mass production in the fourth quarter of this year, according to <a href="https://www.digitimes.com/news/a20200909PD201.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">DigiTimes</a>. It’s expected to be used in the first “Apple Silicon” Mac and the next iPad Pro.</p>
