<p>My feelings about Apple’s 12-inch MacBook — <a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.today/blog/2015/8/12/considering-the-12-inch-macbook-as-a-laptop-for-students?rq=MacBook" rel="noopener noreferrer">see my review here</a> — haven’t changed since its debut last year: it’s a great “secondary” Mac, but not a desktop replacement. </p>

<p>Sometimes it can be handy to record video directly into iMovie. To do so, start a new project and open the Import window by clicking the Import button in the toolbar. </p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://macitbetter.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer">MacItBetter's BetterZip 3</a> is a handy Mac OS X solution for archiving. One of the coolest features is Direct Mode, which speeds up working with large archives by making archive preparation and recompression obsolete.</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.chimecard.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Chime</a>, the bank account “that helps its members lead healthier financial lives and automate their savings,” has announced support for Apple Pay.</p>

<p>Adobe has served up Adobe Spark, an integrated web and mobile solution for creating and sharing visual stories. The free service — part of Creative Cloud — lets you create visual content that engages audiences across multiple channels and looks great on any device, says Bryan Lamkin, executive vice president and general manager, Digital Media at Adobe. </p>

<p>On Tuesday <a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.today/blog/2016/5/18/apple-to-open-ios-app-design-and-development-accelerator-in-bengaluru-india" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple announced</a> plans to establish an iOS App Design and Development Accelerator in Bengaluru, the home of India’s startup scene. Now the Cupertno, California-based company has announced the opening of an office in Hyderabad, India, that will focus on development of Maps for the Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. </p>

<p>Apple files for — and is granted — lots of patents by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Many are for inventions that never see the light of day. However, you never can tell which ones will materialize in a real product, so here are today’s patent highlights: </p>

<p>The MacBook, MacBook Air, and iPad Pro could be especially bright products for Apple sales this year. Despite a declining PC (as in in “personal computer,” not just Windows systems) market, the ultramobile premium segment is on pace to achieve revenue growth this year — the only segment set to do so, according to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.gartner.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Gartner, Inc</a>.. </p>

<p>It's an easy pun I know, but the <a target="_blank" href="http://bit.ly/SMqbv0" rel="noopener noreferrer">Nifty MiniDrive</a> is pretty nifty, especially if you own a MacBook Air or newer MacBook Pro. Alas, without an adapter it doesn’t work with the 12-inch MacBook as it comes with a solo USB-C port.</p>

<p>Twelve South has introduced the BookBook for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The leather case angles the Apple tablet for drawing, painting and sketching with the Apple Pencil. </p>

<p>Apple is set to hire Rajiv Mishra, currently vice president of media and corporate social responsibility division at Samsung Electronics, as its India head of media and public affairs, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.socialnews.xyz/2016/05/samsung-top-exec-tipped-to-be-apple-india-media-head/" rel="noopener noreferrer">reports IANS</a>, quoting unnamed “informed sources."</p>

<p>Apple has always — or so it seems — treated gaming as an afterthought on the Mac. It’s time for that to change. </p>

<p>Apple has announced a new initiative to support engineering talent and accelerate growth in India’s iOS developer community. The company will establish an iOS App Design and Development Accelerator in Bengaluru, the home of India’s startup scene. It’s slated to open in early 2017.</p>
