<p>Taiwan-based Apple supplier Foxconn is pressing for a deal that would give it 25% of Toshiba's chip manufacturing business with Apple controlling 20% of the equity, according to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-07/foxconn-details-plans-to-buy-toshiba-unit-with-apple-softbank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em>.</a></p>

<p>Apple’s <a target="_blank" href="http://developer.apple.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Developer Center</a> down for a while on Wednesday, and many feared it was due to a hacker attack. Many accounts had profile information changed to a Russian address.</p>

<p>Following <a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2017/9/6/analyst-samsung-is-the-sole-supplier-of-oled-screens-for-the-upcoming-iphone-8" rel="noopener noreferrer">reports </a>that Samsung could be the sole supplier of OLED displays for the upcoming “iPhone 8,” <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-07/apple-lg-said-to-discuss-oled-deal-for-supplies-starting-2019" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em> reports</a> that Apple will have to wait until at least 2019 to have another source for the displays.</p>

<p>Apple has made a deal for songs from Warner Music Group (WMG), the company’s first agreement with a major label since introducing its on-demand music service two years ago, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-06/apple-is-said-to-reach-music-deal-with-warner-sony-pact-next" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em>,</a> quoting unnamed “people familiar with the matter.”</p>

This data is based on favored hobbies, clothing brands and car brands.</p>

<p>Phil Schiller, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Marketing, and his wife, Kim Gassett-Schiller, have donated $10 million to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.bowdoin.edu" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bowdoin College</a> in Maine —a school their sons Erik and Mark attended, the latter graduating this year, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/09/06/apples-phil-schiller-wife-donate-10m-to-maines-bowdoin-college" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a>.</p>

<p>Apple will help Ireland select an investment manager for the 15 billion euros ($17.9 billion) of back tax payments that will go into escrow in the country as the tech giant appeals the tax, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-06/apple-will-help-choose-investment-manager-for-irish-tax-billions?utm_content=tech&utm_campaign=socialflow-organic&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&cmpid%3D=socialflow-twitter-tech" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em></a>.</p>

<p>Kim Rozenfeld (pictured), former Sony TV head of current programming, has moved to <a href="http://deadline.com/tag/apple/">Apple</a>, rejoining his former Sony TV bosses Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, who were named in June to oversee worldwide video programming, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://deadline.com/2017/09/apple-kim-rozenfeld-max-aronson-ali-woodruff-rita-cooper-lee-hired-tv-video-programming-unit-1202162111/" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Deadline Hollywood</em></a>. </p>

<p>In a note to clients — as noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/09/06/samsung-is-sole-supplier-of-costly-iphone-8-oled-putting-apple-in-urgent-need-of-alternatives" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a> — KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple’s in a bit of a sticky wicket as Samsung is the sole supplier of OLED screens for the upcoming “iPhone 8” (shown in fanciful mock-ups).</p>

<p>iPhone and iPad users have started to see “Tips” pop-ups <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/06/ios-11-changes-teased-ahead-of-release.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">advertising the features</a> of the upcoming iOS 11. The tips show users some of the new features that are going to launch soon (perhaps next week) in iOS 11.</p>

<p>According to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.counterpointresearch.com/huawei-surpasses-apple/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Counterpoint Research</a>, Samsung held on to at least 20% of the global smartphone market in June and July, while Huawei and Apple had about half that market share, though the China-based company was slightly ahead of the iPhone maker.</p>

<p>Imagine James Bond using an iPhone and wearing an Apple Watch. Hey, it could happen. Apple and Amazon are among those vying for the rights to the legendary spy’s franchise, as Sony’s rights expired after 2015’s <em>Spectre</em> film, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/apple-amazon-join-race-james-bond-film-rights-1035539" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Hollywood Reporter</em></a>.</p>
