<p><a href="https://www.voip-pal.com/">Voip-Pal.com</a> has announced its intent to increase the damage claims in its lawsuits against Apple, Verizon and AT&T. Over the past few months the company says it’s been reevaluating the initial damage calculation claims made in its February 2016 lawsuits and has “determined its initial claim for damages was calculated using a significantly lower royalty monetization model than has been used in actual court awards of recent patent infringement cases.”</p>

<p>Apple will open the Piazza del Liberty Apple Retail store in Milan “soon,” according to <a target="_blank" href="http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/05/15/truly-international-piazza-del-liberty-apple-store-in-milan-italy-opening-soon" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider.</a> First announced in January, it’s described as “one of the most innovative and technological Apple Stores in the world.”</p>

<p>Coremelt’s $99 <a target="_blank" href="http://bit.ly/1j31NiD" rel="noopener noreferrer">TrackX</a> is a powerful third party plug in for use with Final Cut Pro X.  I’ve been using TrackX now for a few weeks and have come to truly appreciate the possibilities that TrackX offers.  </p>

<p>Apple wants to improve searches in its various app stores, as evidenced by a new patent filing (number 20170132294) for, well, “app store searching.” The improved search method would distribute data to create an association between a first application and a first set of other applications in an app store.</p>

<p>Apple is planning a new Apple Store in Mexico; it will be located in a new section of the El Dorado Mall in San Luis Potosi, according to <a target="_blank" href="https://9to5mac.com/2017/05/14/apple-planning-new-mexico-retail-location-in-san-luis-potosi-mall/" rel="noopener noreferrer">9to5Mac</a>.</p>

<p>Apple has scooped up <a target="_blank" href="http://lattice.io/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Lattice Data</a>, a company that applies an AI enabled inference engine to take unstructured, “dark” data and turn it into structured (and more usable) information for about $200 million, according to <a target="_blank" href="https://techcrunch.com/2017/05/13/apple-acquires-ai-company-lattice-data-a-specialist-in-unstructured-dark-data/" rel="noopener noreferrer">TechCrunch</a>.</p>

<p>In a note to clients — as noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://www.macrumors.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">MacRumors</a> --  KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts we’ll see the rumored <a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2017/5/10/new-case-listing-hints-at-a-105-inch-ipad-pro-intro-at-wwdc?rq=10.5-inch%20iPad" rel="noopener noreferrer">10.5-inch iPad Pro</a> and the <a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2017/5/1/heres-a-round-up-of-the-rumors-about-apples-amazon-echo-competitor?rq=Siri%20speaker" rel="noopener noreferrer">Siri-enabled speaker system</a> at next month’s Apple Worldwide Developer Conference. He thinks there’s a 70% chance of the former and better than 50% chance for the latter.</p>

<p>Apple accounted for 3% of sales in the first quarter (Q1) of 2017 but has recently made several strategic moves in India, including teaming up with Reliance Jio to offer free 4G service for one year to purchasers of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, notes <a target="_blank" href="http://www.kantarworldpanel.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kantar Worldpanel</a>.</p>

<p>Apple wants to increase your vocabulary — or at least that of your macOS or iOS device. The tech giant has applied for a patent (number 9,645,998) for “learning new words.”</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2017/5/1/heres-a-round-up-of-the-rumors-about-apples-amazon-echo-competitor?rq=Siri%20speaker" rel="noopener noreferrer">The rumor mill says</a> that Apple is working on a Siri-based competitor to the Amazon Echo “smart speaker,” which could debut at next month’s Worldwide Developer Conference. If so, the company has some catching up to do.</p>

<p>Apple has announced that Corning Inc. will receive $200 million from the company’s new Advanced Manufacturing Fund as part of the tech giant’s commitment to foster innovation among American manufacturers. </p>

<p>Future versions of Siri — its “personal digital assistant” — may sound like, and respond to, more natural language thanthe somewhat structured interaction of the present. Apple has filed for a patent (number 20170132199) for “unconventional virtual assistant interactions.”</p>
