<p>Future versions of the not-yet—available Apple HomePod could come with 3D-sensing cameras supporting Face ID, similar to the front-facing technology on the iPhone X, according to <a target="_blank" href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Companies/Apple-supplier-eyes-smart-speakers-with-facial-recognition?page=1" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Nikkei Asian Review</em></a>.</p>

<p>U.S. District Judge William Alsup told Straight Path IP Group at a hearing Thursday that when the Federal Circuit saved its Internet telephone patents from “obliteration,” its decision narrowed the patents’ scope, and the company can’t now “wiggle out” of the appellate ruling, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://www.law360.com/technology/articles/983737/apple-cisco-likely-to-nix-straight-path-s-patent-claims?nl_pk=ade0cf2b-ea3f-464b-bc93-d8e19277ac63&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=technology" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Law 360</em></a>.</p>

<p>Some iPhone X are apparently experiencing "crackling" or "buzzing" sounds coming from the smartphone's front-facing earpiece speaker at high volumes. Over two dozen users have said they are affected in a <a target="_blank" href="https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone-x-crackle-speakers.2084292/" rel="noopener noreferrer">MacRumors discussion topic</a> about the matter, while similar reports have surfaced on <a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/search?q=iphone%20x%20crackling&src=typd" rel="noopener noreferrer">Twitter</a> and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/7b5gci/i_love_everything_about_the_iphone_x_except_the/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Reddit</a> since the smartphone launched.</p>

<p>In a note to clients — as noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/11/11/iphone-x-iphone-8-plus-production-accelerating-alongside-cutback-in-orders-for-iphone-8" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInsider</em></a> — KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that production problems with the iPhone X are over, and about 26 million units of the smartphone should ship in the holiday quarter.</p>

<p>Apimac's iNotepad is an app for macOS that lets you write and manage hundreds (or even thousands) of texts in one single document. With it, you have everything in one place.</p>

<p>Apple has updated Pages, Keynote, and Numbers for macOS to, respectively versions 6.3.1, 7.3.1, and 4.3.1. All offer stability and performance improvements.</p>

<p>iPhone X users on <a target="_blank" href="https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/7bnann/iphone_x_screen_not_responsive_in_the_cold/" rel="noopener noreferrer">reddit</a> and <a target="_blank" href="https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone-x-display-not-working-on-cold.2086455/" rel="noopener noreferrer">the <em>MacRumors</em> forums</a> have found that their smartphones immediately refuse to recognize some touch input when exposed to cool outdoor temperatures. There’s a software bug causing the issue, which Apple says will be addressed in an upcoming update. Apple issued this statement to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.loopinsight.com/2017/11/09/apples-response-to-iphone-x-screen-cold-weather-responsiveness/" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Loop</em></a>: </p>

<p>Apple has announced a major update to <a href="https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2017/03/apple-introduces-clips-the-fun-new-way-to-create-expressive-videos-on-ios/">Clips</a>, the free app for iOS that makes it easy to create and share videos using an iPhone or iPad. The upgrade  introduces Selfie Scenes and adds artistic style transfer effects and a redesigned interface.</p>

<p>Apple has released iOS 11.1.1. You can download it on all iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to Settings --> General --> Software Update.  </p>

<p>Americans are so excited about the new iPhone that they would overcome a great deal of inconvenience—and adversity—to lay their hands on one, according to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.levadata.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">LevaData</a>, a company “that helps global enterprises improve gross margins by reducing supply chain costs.” I’m assuming the “new iPhone” is the iPhone X, but LevaData doesn’t specify.</p>

<p>It was rumored last month, but now it’s apparently happened: Apple has acquired <a target="_blank" href="http://www.invisage.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer">InVisage Technologies</a>, a developer of QuantumFilm camera sensors, eports <a target="_blank" href="https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/09/apple-has-acquired-imaging-sensor-startup-invisage-technologies/?ncid=rss&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+%28TechCrunch%29" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>TechCrunch</em></a>.</p>

<p>Lynn University has been selected as an Apple Distinguished School for 2017–2019 for its iPad-powered learning program. This marks the third consecutive time that Lynn has been named as a Distinguished School for continuous innovation in learning, teaching and its environment and for showing documented results of academic accomplishment.</p>

<p>Apple’s iPhone 8 Plus out-shipped the iPhone 8 in the third quarter (Q3) of 2017, according to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.canalys.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Canalys</a>. The research group says the iPhone 7 was the world’s best-shipping smartphone in the  quarter with 13 million units shipped. </p>
