Rumor: Apple is developing a Facebook/Snapchat competitor

<p>Apple is developing a video sharing and editing app for iOS devices, according to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-08-25/apple-weighs-iphone-video-editing-app-in-renewed-push-on-social-isa5rhlu" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bloomberg</a>, quoting unnamed “people familiar with the matter.” The plans are reportedly part of a new focus to integrate social networking applications.</p>

Mobile augmented reality users to approach 200 million by 2018

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.juniperresearch.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Juniper Research</a> says the mobile Augmented Reality (AR) market, is set to increase dramatically from 60 million unique users in 2013 to nearly 200 million in 2018. If Apple plans to get into the market, now is an opportune time.</p>

U.S. Treasury Department wants Ireland tax judgement against Apple deferred

Digital video formats not as popular as discs, VHS tapes once were when it comes to buying and renting

<p>Here’s an opportunity for Apple to sell more TV shows and movies on iTunes (if they can figure out a good sales pitch): according to <a href="http://www.gfk.com/en-us/insights/infographic/home-technology-physical-vs-digital-video/">a new GfK study</a> (as noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://variety.com/2016/digital/news/gfk-study-70-percent-never-bought-digital-videos-1201843250/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Variety</a>) a majority of consumers has never rented or bought a digital copy of a movie or TV show. What’s more, the average digital media collection is much smaller than physical disc collections or even VHS collections have been on average.</p>

New scam targets iTunes and Apple app store customers

The bogus emails claim that someone has been shopping using your Apple account. </p>

Australian retailers side with the country’s banks over Apple Pay negotiations

<p>Australian retailer giant Coles, the Australian Payments Clearing Association (APCA), and the Australian Retailers Association (APA) have <a target="_blank" href="http://www.zdnet.com/article/retailers-payments-association-want-banks-granted-negotiation-rights-with-apple/" rel="noopener noreferrer">expressed their support</a> to allow some of Australia's largest banks to collectively negotiate with third-party mobile providers such as Apple on conditions relating to competition, best practice standards, and efficiency and transparency.</p>
