iPhones prevail over Android in smartphone performance battle

<p>Each quarter, mobile experts compare the features and performance of iOS and Android smartphones. In the third quarter of 2017, Apple's iPhones came out victorious in the battle, with the Android device failure rate (30%) being nearly double that of the iOS device failure rate (16%), according to the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.blancco.com/resources/rs-state-of-mobile-device-performance-and-health-trend-report-q3-2017/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Q3 2017 State of Mobile Device Performance and Health report</a> released by Blancco Technology.</p>

<p>Apple will use its own main power management chip design in iPhones within the next two years, according to <a target="_blank" href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Companies/Apple-to-design-power-chips-in-house-as-early-as-2018-Sources" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Nikkei Asian Review</em></a>, quoting unnamed sources. The chip controls the phone’s charging, battery management, and energy efficiency. </p>

The iPhone X sees the most device activations over the Thanksgiving weekend

<p>The 2017 Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Cyber Monday kickoff to the holiday shopping season produced big results <a target="_blank" href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2017/11/26/online-sales-surge-over-thanksgiving-day-weekend/892767001/" rel="noopener noreferrer">for retailers</a>. Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, consumers dropped more than $11 billion, which is a significant increase from 2016.  </p>
