Apple reportedly looking for a ‘transformative acquisition’ in the TV, film world

<p>Senior Apple executives — including Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services— have reached out to some of Hollywood’s most successful TV and film producers recent about going to work for the tech giant, according to the <a target="_blank" href="http://nypost.com/2017/03/02/apple-execs-vying-for-original-movie-tv-deals/" rel="noopener noreferrer">New York Post</a>. The article claims the Cupertino, California-based company is looking for a “transformative acquisition and not just a deal to buy TV shows.”</p>

T-Mobile wants to give you an iPhone 7 for signing up with them

<p>T-Mobile really, really wants your business. Starting today, anyone who brings their number to the wireless carrier can get an iPhone 7 – or iPhone 7 Plus for $100 – after trade-in and rebate. This screaming deal is available for new and existing customers, but it only lasts through Thursday, March 16.</p>

Transport Sleeve is available for Mac laptops and iPads

<p>Triple Aught Design has debuted the <a target="_blank" href="http://store.tripleaughtdesign.com/Transport-Sleeve" rel="noopener noreferrer">Transport Sleeve</a> for Mac laptops and iPads. The main compartment is accessed via an L-shaped zipper in both vertical or horizontal orientations. </p>

Apple to use its own Authentec algorithm in the ‘iPhone 8’

<p>Apple will use its own Authentec algorithm combined with Privaris glass identification technology to redesign a new fingerprint ID solution instead of Synaptics' Natural ID touch fingerprint sensor or Qualcomm's Sense ID fingerprint technology for its OLED “iPhone 8,” reports <a target="_blank" href="http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20170302PD209.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">DigiTimes</a>, quoting unnamed “industry sources.”</p>

Notable apps and app updates for March 2, 2017

<p>Rapid Turtle Games has introduced <a target="_blank" href="https://itunes.apple.com/app/drop-files/id1188638564" rel="noopener noreferrer">Drop Files 1.0</a>. In the free game, players must drag and drop incoming files to the right folders, handling simple tasks, and dealing with viruses and trash files. Each file has its own folder, like photos go to the photos folder, music files to music folder and more.</p>

Report: iPads, Macs both losing ground in the U.S. education market

<p>Apple’s iPads and Macs — which accounted for about half of the mobile devices shipped to schools in the United States in 2013 — are steadily losing ground to inexpensive Chromebook laptops, according to a new report from <a target="_blank" href="http://www.futuresourceo-consulting.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Futuresource Consulting</a>.</p>

Analyst: Apple won’t ditch Lightning ports for USB-C in the ‘iPhone 8’

<p>There was <a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2017/2/28/rumor-the-iphone-8-will-have-a-curved-screen-and-ditch-lightning-for-usb-c" rel="noopener noreferrer">a rumor this week</a> that Apple will ditch the Lightning port for a USB-C port on the upcoming “iPhone 8.” I said it wouldn't happen and apparently KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo agrees.</p>

<p>Samsung again leads LG Electronics and Apple as the most-sued patent defendant in 2016, according to the fourth annual <a target="_blank" href="http://pages.lexmachina.com/Email_Patent-Report-2016_LP---Social.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">Patent Litigation Year in Review report</a> from Lex Machine, creator of the Legal Analytics program. Tech and pharmaceutical companies comprise the top 10, with Amazon, Asus, Actavis and AT&T among the top patent defendants.</p>

Apple’s Angela Ahrendts to speak at the 21st Annual Global Retailing Conference

<p>The University of Arizona’s Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing has announced the lineup of presenters for the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.globalretailingconference.org" rel="noopener noreferrer">21st Annual Global Retailing Conference</a> set for April 20-21 at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort in Tucson.
