Apple will replace built-in batteries on some 13-inch MacBook Pros

<p>Apple has determined that, in a limited number of 13-inch MacBook Pro (non-Touch Bar) units, a component may fail causing the built-in battery to expand. This is not a safety issue and Apple will replace eligible batteries, free of charge. Affected units were manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017 and eligibility is determined by the product serial number.</p>

<p>Apple has lured away a veteran Samsung exec to be the  new leader for its South Korea branch. According to Bloomberg, Brandon Yoon, a veteran Microsoft executive and most recently a vice president at Samsung, joined this month as general manager of Apple Korea.</p>

Apple Music to focus more attention on country music

<p>Apple has announced that 13-year Apple veteran Jay Liepis has relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, to head up a team there that will be “dedicated to being more involved with artists, managers, songwriters and the label community at large,” reports Variety. In other words, the tech giant will finally show a bit of love to country music.</p>

EU opens in-depth investigation into Apple’s proposed acquisition of Shazam

<p>The European Commission — an institution of the European Union, responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the EU treaties and managing the day-to-day business of the EU — has opened an in-depth investigation to assess the proposed acquisition of Shazam by Apple under the EU Merger Regulation. In a statement, the EC says it’s concerned the merger could reduce choice for users of music streaming services.</p>
