Gartner: worldwide end-user spending on devices will grow 2% in 2017

<p>Users of personal computers, ultramobiles (which includes iPads, tablets and Chromebooks) and mobile phones are buying new devices at higher average selling prices (ASPs), resulting in growth in end-user spending in 2017. The <a target="_blank" href="http://www.gartner.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Gartner research group </a>estimates that end-user spending will increase by 2% in 2017, to nearly $600 billion in current U.S. dollars. </p>

Several tech companies agree to a $5.3 million settlement for taking unfair advantage of an iOS feature

<p>Several tech companies — including Twitter, Yelp, Instagram and Foursquare Labs — have agreed to pay a consolidated $5.3 million to resolve a putative class action pending in California federal court accusing them of violating user privacy through their apps that took advantage of an iOS feature that uploaded details from users' contact lists, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://www.law360.com/articles/909742" rel="noopener noreferrer">Law360</a>.</p>

How to dictate instead of typing in macOS Sierra

<p>You can use your voice to enter text with macOS Sierra with its Dictation feature (which is different from Siri). Choose the Apple menu () > System Preferences, click Keyboard, then click Dictation. Turn on Dictation and choose from these Dictation options:</p>
