Apple’s first retail store in Taiwan will open July 1

<p>Apple’s first retail outlet in Taiwan will open for business on Saturday, July 1. Per the regional <a target="_blank" href="https://www.apple.com/tw/retail/taipei101/" rel="noopener noreferrer">website</a>, the grand opening celebration will kick off at 11 a.m. (local time) on the first floor of Taiwan's iconic Taipei 101 skyscraper. </p>

Apple News gets support for reader demographics, third-party advertisers

News is a mobile app and news aggregator for iOS devices (and, I hope, someday for the Mac).</p>

Seems Apple won’t get Toshiba’s memory chip business, after all

<p>Toshiba has chosen a consortium formed by Bain Capital, Mitsubishi, and Japanese government investors as the preferred bidder for its memory chip business, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.reuters.com/article/us-toshiba-accounting-idUSKBN19C094?feedType=RSS&feedName=technologyNews&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+reuters%2FtechnologyNews+%28Reuters+Technology+News%29" rel="noopener noreferrer">reports Reuters</a>. This ends the efforts of a Foxconn-led consortium that included Apple to seal the deal. </p>

PayPal dominates mobile payment brands, but Apple Pay makes ‘significant gains’

<p>PayPal -- followed closely by Amazon brands -- retains its Brand of the Year designation, leading mobile payment brands for the third consecutive year. However, up-and-coming brands Venmo (owned by PayPal), Square, and Apple Pay are making “significant gains,” according to new research from The Harris Poll's 29th annual <a target="_blank" href="http://www.theharrispoll.com/equitrend-information/" rel="noopener noreferrer">EquiTrend Study</a>.</p>

Chrome OS gains in the classroom; iOS dominates mobile devices and tablets

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.kahoot.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kahoot!</a>, a game-based learning platform, has launched its <em>Kahoot! EdTrends Report</em>, which addresses the latest education tech trends in the U.S. K-12 market. The report says Google is getting a stronghold in U.S. classrooms, with Chrome OS growing quickly on computers, while Apple's iOS dominates on mobile devices and tablets. </p>

Virgin Mobile USA goes iPhone only
