Employees at an Apple retail store in Towson, Maryland voted on June 19 to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, reports CNBC. It’s the first unionized Apple store in the U.S.
A Reuters report on June 26 said that the tech giant won’t challenge the results and intends to participate in the bargaining process in good faith, a person familiar with the company’s plans told Reuters. However, a new report from Wired claims this isn’t totally the case.

Workers say that some managers who were fed anti-union talking points to deliver during the campaign continue to hold a bias against union supporters, complaining when they miss work and painting them as lazy.
In May, workers at an Atlanta, Georgia, Apple store—the first to file for a U.S. union election— withdrew their petition to be represented by the Communication Workers of America (CWA) following another bitter anti-union campaign, according to Wired. They plan to regroup and refile early next year, the article adds. Employees from both the Towson and Atlanta stores say that managers erroneously attempted to paint organizing committee members as bullies.
