Apple reportedly plans to overhaul its AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max products

Apple seeds new developer beta firmware for its AirPods line-up.

Apple plans “an end-to-end overhaul of its AirPods lineup, refreshing a product category that’s emerged as one of the company’s biggest seller,” according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. (A subscription is required to read the entire article).

He says the changes will include a revamped version of Apple’s entry-level AirPods in 2024 and a new Pro model the following year. Quoting unnamed “people familiar with the plan,” Gurman says the tech giant is updating the products’ earbud design, the look of the cases and audio quality.

A new version of the AirPods Max headphones are coming in 2024 as well, he adds. The report says that when the AirPods are refreshed, Apple will phase out the second-generation and third-generation models, offering two fourth-generation models at different price points instead.
