Apple may integrate physical SIM tray on the iPhone 15 with USB-C port tail plug cable, not the logic board

According to a set of leaked images (pictured) from X user Majin Bu, Apple will integrate the physical SIM tray with the USB-C port tail plug cable instead of the logic board.

That means any replacement of the physical SIM or dual SIM tray will require changing out the whole tail plug cable. AppleInsider notes that, if this is true, it doesn’t affect iPhones sold in the U.S. since Apple went eSIM only with the iPhone 14 lineup. That trend will continue with the iPhone 15, but devices sold outside of the US will still ship with physical SIM slots.

Apple will unveil its iPhone 15 line-up on Tuesday, Sept. 12, via a pre-recorded event, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman predicts. Pre-orders will likely start on Friday, Sept. 15, with the first orders arriving on Friday, Sept. 22.
