Apple goes on ‘cloud computer hiring spree’

Protocol reports that Apple has gone on a “cloud computing hiring spree,” snapping up several well-known software engineers working across a range of modern technologies, especially containers and Kubernetes.

A container is a standard unit of software that packages up code and all its dependencies so the application runs quickly and reliably from one computing environment to another .Kubernetes is an open-source container-orchestration system for automating application deployment, scaling, and management. It was originally designed by Google, and is now maintained by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation.

Protocol says “it’s not entirely clear what Apple has in mind, but numerous job postings indicate that the company is in the midst of building new tools for its internal software development teams.”
