The AWT News Update is on hiatus while my compadre, Steve, takes a road trip. In its place, I’ll offer a text-only (no podcast) summary of breaking stories with a tip o’ my hat to my former website, Apple Daily Report.

Alexa, Siri, Cortana, and OK Google are all hot names in tech right now. Digital assistants powered by artificial intelligence are the next big thing for Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Google. Consumers however, might not be as excited. Creative Strategies set out to understand more about how consumers are using these agents as well as how they feel about them.

Apple has rolled out new ads for Apple Music, featuring record producer, label executive, and musician DJ Khaled. The ads, which aired following the Apple Music launch of DJ Khaled and Drake’s new track “For Free,” feature DJ Khaled with Naomi Campbell and Ray Liotta. 

Apple has released second beta of an upcoming OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan update to developers for testing purposes. It can be downloaded through the Apple Developer Center or the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store

Apple has also seeded the second beta of an upcoming iOS 9.3.3 update to developers for testing purposes. It can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center or over-the-air with the proper configuration profile installed.

Apple has announced plans to launch two new Chinese outlets later this month, accomplishing a recent target of 40 stores across the Greater China region. 

Apple has uploaded a series of new videos as part of its “Shot on iPhone” ad campaign. Last month, Apple returned to the Shot on iPhone ad series for Mother’s Day, but this marks the first big release of videos for the campaign in a while. The company initially rebooted the ad campaign in February with all-new images from the iPhone 6s.

Troy Carter — a high-profile manager best known for artists like Lady Gaga, Meghan Trainor, and John Legend — is taking a high-ranking position at Spotify where he’ll compete head to head with Apple and Tidal for exclusive artist content as well as focus on the creation of original content.
