Analyst: no 24-inch iMac revamp until 2024 (and no iMac Pro until 2025)

If you’ve been holding your breath for an updated iMac, go ahead and exhale. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo we’re not going to see any this year.

If you’ve been holding your breath for an updated iMac, go ahead and exhale. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo we’re not going to see any this year.

He says that Apple will refresh the 24-inch iMac in 2024. As for an “iMac Pro,” Kuo says that won’t arrive until 2025, though it will boast a 32-inch mini-LED display.

The 24-inch iMac was introduced in 2021 with an M1 processor, so it’s getting pretty long-in-the-tooth. There have been rumors that Apple plans to release the line with M2 and M2 Pro processors this year. However, pundits such as Kuo and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman have predicted that Apple won’t update the all-in-one until it can include a M3 processor — which is most likely to happen next year.

As for an “iMac Pro,” Apple discontinued the 27-inch model in 2022. Rumors have flurried since that time that Apple was planning to reintroduce the line with M.x processors, perhaps upping the screen size to 32 inches or even 42 inches. However, the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks the possibility of the latter is 0%.
