I don’t think we’ll see a new 24-inch iMac with M2, M2 Pro chips.

The 24-inch iMac is going to be updated with M2 and M2 Pro chip options, Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 6E support, and Bluetooth 5.3 support, according to Japanese blog Mac Otakara — as noted by MacRumors

However, the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) doesn’t think so. It would make little sense with the M3 chip likely arriving in early 2024. Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has repeatedly claimed that the next 24-inch iMac will be equipped with the M3 chip.

That makes sense. So if we do see an updated iMac this year, it means one of two scenarios:

° The M3 processor will make it onto at least one Mac this year.

° Apple is updating the long-in-the-tooth all-in-one with a processor that will soon be succeeded by a better one.

Let’s hope that it’s the first scenario if indeed Apple does roll out a new 24-inch iMac this year.
