Apple TV+’s ‘Ted Lasso,’ ‘Wolfwalkers’ nab Producers Guild Awards

The day after winning three Critics Choice Awards, Apple TV’s “Ted Lasso” has been nominated as Best Comedy series in the 2021 Products Guild Awards. In addition the streaming service’s “Wolfwalkers” is nominated for Best Animated Feature. The latter has also been nominated for 10 Annie Awards, which honor honor the best in the field of animation.

The Producers Guild Awards were announced today by the Producers Guild of America. The Awards were originally established in 1990 by the Producers Guild of America (PGA) as the Golden Laurel Awards. The PGA is a trade association representing television producers, film producers, and new media producers in the U.S. Its membership includes over 7,000 members of the producing establishment.

Apple TV+’s ‘Ted Lasso,’ ‘Boys State’ nominated for DGA Awards

There’s no stopping Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso.” Earlier today it was announced that the comedy had been nominated as Best Comedy Series in the 2021 Producers Guild Awards. Now directors who worked on two episodes have been nominated for Directors Guild of America (DGA) awards. And an Apple TV+ documentary also received a nomination. 

Zach Braff is in the running for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series nomination for directing the episode “Biscuits,” while MJ Delaney is nominated for “The Hope that Kills You.” Amanda McBaine and Jesse Moss received an Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary nomination for their work on the “Boys State” documentary.

The DGA Awards honor outstanding directorial achievement in television, commercials, and documentary. The winners will be announced at the 73rd Annual DGA Awards on Saturday, April 10, which will be a private virtual event for DGA members.
