Keep that expensive iPhone clean while traveling with the PhoneSoap Go

Last month my Apple World Today compadre, Steve Sande, reviewed the PhoneSoap Wireless, a $99.95 device that not only wirelessly charges your iPhone, but sanitizes it with a strong blast of ultraviolet C (UV-C) light at the same time. He loved it, but longed for a wireless version.

The folks at PhoneSoap apparently heeded Steve’s request and have released PhoneSoap Go, the first and only smartphone charger that cleans and sanitizes the aforementioned devices while they charge. The travel-friendly charger/cleaner can disinfect a smartphone 45 times and/or charge it up to four times on a single charge. Conveniently, the product can handle just about any size Apple smartphone. For example, my iPhone Xs Max and its Leather Case easily fit in the PhoneSoap Go.

What’d more, the it can also sanitize anything that fits inside its sanitation bay, such as keys, credit cards, or earbuds such as Apple’s AirPods. Simply pack the PhoneSoap Go in its handy carrying case, pack it in a suitcase,

According to the folks at PhoneSoap, both of their disinfecting products use germicidal UV-C lights to kill 99.99% of the germs living on a phone, without the use of harmful heat or chemicals. This UV-C light purportedly breaks apart germ DNA, leaving it unable to function or reproduce, and neutralizes bacteria that have developed a resistance to antibiotics.

To sanitize a phone, lock the screen and place it in the sanitizing bay. Close the lid and touch the lightning bolt on top of the unit to begin the sanitation cycle. The lightning bolt will glow blue while it’s disinfecting the phone and will shut off automatically after 10 minutes. If users want to charge a phone while sanitizing it, they plug the phone’s charging cable into the back of the PhoneSoap Go before closing the lid. Or you can plug the phone in at any time to charge the phone like a traditional power bank.

To charge the PhoneSoap Go, plug the accompanying power cord into the back of the product and plug the USB end of the power cord into a USB power adapter. Once it’s plugged into an outlet, it begins re-charging. The four integrated LED indicators on top of the PhoneSoap Go illuminate when it’s fully charged. You can check the level of the PhoneSoap’s 7000mAh battery by holding down the lightning button and checking the LED indicators on the top of the PhoneSoap Go. Each indicator represents 25%; when all four are lit, it’s at 100%

The PhoneSoap Go is available now for $99.95 — less, actually. You can get an additional 20% off when using the code Travel20, at Phonesoap.com.

As Steve pointed out in his review, if you want to be disgusted, read an article that talks about all of the bacteria and pathogens that can build up on your smartphone. One from Time, titled “Your Cell Phone Is 10 Times Dirtier Than a Toilet Seat,” talks about just how gross the average cell phone is when it has been handled, coughed on, and placed on dirty surfaces.

And you don’t want that pricey iPhone to be nasty, do you?
