You’ve probably noticed that Apple World Today hasn’t posted any articles on the “panic” over the upcoming iPhone 8. That’s because it’s a non-story. But let’s back up.
A source (unnamed, of course) told Fast Company that June was a tense month for the engineers and designers on Apple’s iPhone team with “a sense of panic in the air,” The article says that group is working around the clock to fix software problems related to wireless charging and 3D sensing.
And there’s also “panic” in the air because, while new iPhones are typically released in September, some industry watchers think the next model might appear as late as November.
Let’s apply some common sense here. Yes, Apple usually releases new smartphones in September, but it doesn’t have to follow this pattern. If the next generation of iPhones didn’t arrive until November, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. After all, the gadgets would still arrive in time for the holiday season.
Also, keep in mind that Apple hasn’t announced a September (or October or November, for that matter) special event to debut new iPhones. They’ll be announced when Apple is ready to announce ‘em. I have enough faith in my favorite tech company to believe they won’t release new iPhones in the wild that have major problems regarding 3D sensing, wireless charging or whatever.
So don’t panic. I’m not.
