CalDigit has announced the Thunderbolt Station 3 Lite. It’s designed to maximize the potential of Thunderbolt 3’s 40G/s throughout to add a plethora of devices to any Mac or PC Thunderbolt 3 enabled computer.
It should appeal to owners of the 2016 MacBook Pro. The TS 3 Lite features dual Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports for daisy-chaining extra Thunderbolt 3 devices. It provides Thunderbolt 3 Type-C, DisplayPort, USB 3.1 Type-A, USB 3.1 Type-C, Gigabit Ethernet, and Audio In/Out via one single Thunderbolt 3 cable. For users who need dual 4K monitors, they can connect a USB-C to HDMI adapter to the second Thunderbolt 3 port. Users have the option of using two monitors in either an extended or mirrored desktop. Three USB 3.1 Type A connections are also available.
The Thunderbolt Station 3 Lite is shipping early in the first quarter of 2017, and is available for pre-order for $169.99, with a regular price of $199.99. A Thunderbolt Station 3, expected to arrive later in the first quarter, will cost $249.99 but can be pre-ordered for $199.99.
