Here are some of the latest software announcements.

° Memory • Halloweenis a flip-two-cards-and-find-the-pair game many of us played as kids, with friendly ghosts, pumpkins and three Halloween looks. A child can start on a tiny board, while the 25 levels become a proper challenge for adults. There’s also a timed mode and a two-player mode on the same device.

° Daylite on iPad is now available on the new iPhone Duo. The app is designed to connect “everything — clients, sales, projects, emails, notes, calendar, and tasks — in one place.

° Penalty Area: Face2Face is a new independent penalty shootout built specifically for Apple devices, including the iPhone Fold. Fold the smartphone to around 90 degrees and it becomes a miniature penalty pitch, with the goal and goalkeeper upright above the ball and shooting area. Moving the hinge changes the lighting and perspective. To play, download the free NBA 2K Mobile app optimized for Apple devices. Live NBA action requires Apple devices with 4+ GB of RAM and iOS 15.5 or later, or on Android devices with 3+ GB of RAM and Android 9 or later. An Internet connection is required.

° There’s a new way for Mac users to get their 3D Blu-rays into their VR headsets. MakeSBS3D is a native macOS app that converts 3D Blu-rays, through MakeMKV, into MV-HEVC spatial video for Vision Pro, and into full side-by-side MP4 for other headsets. It is the Mac’s answer to BD3D2MK3D.

° The iPhone has its first true monochrome RAW: Monolith, the new engine in Koloristika 1.3.0. It is also the first panchromatic 16bit black & white RAW from a color sensor, anywhere. Digital Camera World ran the exclusive first look.

° Aquarius Computer has updated its MultiTrack app to version 1.3. The new release fixes bugs with instruments (synths) and adds a couple new features. MultiTrack is released at an introductory price of $15. It requires Mac OS 10.10 Big Sur or later. It’s available as a free demo for download here.

° The Omni Group has announced that OmniFocus and OmniOutliner are making their debut on iPhone Duo, with the OmniGraffle 8 beta to follow closely behind. Designed specifically for the iPhone Duo, they efficiently display content and controls on the compact outer display, adapt to the unique layout of the spacious interior display, and are ready to multitask alongside another app in Split View.

° Switchback 1.0 is out. It’s a Mac utility for people who moved from Windows and still miss File Explorer. It works inside the real Finder rather than replacing it. It adds a path bar you can type into, an expandable folder tree in the sidebar, copies you can pause and resume, and a Task Manager-style window. I’m the developer; I built it after my own switch from Windows.

° Angle Meter is an app made for iPhone Duo and measures the hinge angle live as the phone opens and closes. The app also includes a two-axis level, AR distance ruler, target-angle alerts, measurement history, a left-right screen swap, and an Apple Watch companion. It is a $0.99 one-time purchase with no ads or subscription.
