The iPhone Air 2 rumored to be 7% thinner than the current model

The iPhone Air 2 is rumored to be 7% thinner than the current model.

The second generation iPhone Air 2 will be approximately 0.4mm thinner than the current model despite having a higher-capacity battery, according to the leaker known as  “yeux1122.”

The current version is 5.6mm thick. A 0.4mm reduction would put its successor at approximately 5.2mm or about around 7% thinner. Previously, leaker known as “Instant Digital” claimed Apple has requested an “ultra-thin” Face ID component from suppliers that will allow second gen of the thinnest-ever iPhone to accommodate an ultra wide-angle lens in addition to the existing single main lens.

A redesign that includes a second camera is said to be one way that Apple thinks it can address user complaints that the iPhone Air, while an impressive design feat, has led to too many hardware compromises, especially given the US$999 price tag.

The iPhone Air 2, a non-Pro iPhone 18, and an iPhone 18e are expected to arrive in the first half of 2027.
