Apple CEO John Ternus wants to make the company leaner and meaner to speed up product accelerate product development and introduce new products more often, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman (a subscription is required to read the article).
“Ternus apparently wants Apple to “broaden its range of devices and create a leaner organization with a greater focus on engineering,” he says. Under consideration is relying less on Apple’s traditional spring and fall product release cycles, and roll out new devices more quickly and throughout the year. Ternus also wants Apple to become “more experimental” and consider reducing some middle-management positions to reduce corporate hierarchy that separates engineers from senior executives.
He believes “Apple should hire fewer people, ask more of its existing engineers, and reduce organizational bloat,” Gurman says. The Bloomberg article adds that Apple’s new CEO is looking for new ways to generate more revenue from existing products, as well as launching new services.
