Here are some of the latest software announcements.
° Chris Blumzon has announced “Sisyphus – The Walk Down,” a free illustrated narrative game coming to iPhone and iPad on October 7.
Inspired by the myth of Sisyphus and Albert Camus’s ideas about the absurd, The Walk Down explores repetition, persistence and the meaning we find in what we do. Push the stone uphill, release to catch your breath, then walk back down as a narrated story unfolds across ten loops. The story ends; the walk can continue. You can pre-order it on the Apple App Store.
° Malsah Labs has released HarmonyKeen for Mac and Windows. Give it a melody as MIDI and it writes the harmony parts around it. Every note can be edited, each part drags into a DAW as its own track, and the whole arrangement exports as sheet music with PDF and MusicXML.
It runs on music theory rather than a neural network, so the same melody always gives the same result. On the Mac it runs as a standalone app on macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon, as an Audio Unit in Logic Pro and GarageBand, and as a VST3. HarmonyKeen costs US$59 at its introductory price, with a 7-day free trial that needs no card.
° Tusk is a new Mac app that also catalogs your files but handles automated backups for you as well. It’s a combination of Offline Files or NeoFinder and Carbon Copy Cloner.
Tusk is made for anyone whose files no longer fit on the Mac: photographers, filmmakers, music producers. It continuously backs up your projects to external drives or the cloud and verifies each transfer. It keeps a local catalog of where every file is, so you know exactly where things are even when the drives are unplugged. Once backups are done, you can safely delete local copies. The idea is to turn your Mac into your workstation again, instead of a storage device.
° The Hobby: Card Career is now live on iPhone. In the app, you open packs, build your collection and follow fictional footballers through their careers. Their form, transfers and achievements affect their in-game card values, giving you a reason to follow the players behind your collection. It’s $4.99 upfront, fully offline and single-player, with no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases.
° Maxon — a company that makes software solutions for creators working in 2D and 3D design, motion graphics, visual effects and visualization — has announced built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) support for Cinema 4D.
The new Cinema 4D MCP server enables artists to use natural language instructions to direct Claude and ChatGPT or Codex AI assistants securely within Cinema 4D workflows. The Cinema 4D MCP server allows AI assistants to work interactively within Cinema 4D so artists can review, refine and iterate on the results as they work.
° Source Marketing, a Frederick County marketing consulting firm, has launched You Speak, a communication app for children and adults who are nonspeaking. People using the app tap a picture or phrase, and You Speak says the words out loud.
The app serves nonspeaking autistic individuals, people with speech disorders such as apraxia, and adults who have lost speech after a stroke or brain injury, along with the parents, teachers and speech-language pathologists who support them. You Speak is now available on iPhone, iPad and Android devices. You Speak is available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play for a one-time purchase of $29.99, with no subscription, in-app ads or recurring fees.
° Daydream, the AI-powered fashion discovery platform, launched conversational search and a shoppable camera roll that utilize the newest capabilities in iOS 27. Both are powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence and accessible when using Siri AI.
° Mezmo Technologies, the creators of the Bridge workplace call captioning solution, has launched Bridge Live, a new app that provides in-person captioning for deaf and hard of hearing professionals. It’s available on iOS and Android. Visit www.bridgecaption.com to learn more.
° The camera app Halide Mark III has been updated to version 3.2, bringing dedicated support for iPhone 18 Pro by broadening user control over the device’s new variable aperture camera system.
° Dusk Climber is now available for iPhones running iOS 16 or later. It’s free to download with optional in-app purchases.
