In August Apple only managed to produce “a few hundred units a day” of the upcoming foldable iPhone because of the tech giant’s high quality control standards, according to Nikkei Asia (a subscription is required to read the article).
“Production is ramping up slowly, with output currently at only a few hundred units a day in late August,” says the report. “That initial volume could be challenging to meet market demand.”
This means that it will probably be a long line to get a foldable iPhone — rumored to be dubbed either the “iPhone Ultra” or “iPhone Fold.” Whatever the name, it’s expected to be announce alongside an iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at next Wednesday’s “Surprise & Shine” event.
Also expected to be unveiled that day are the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. Other possibilities are a new Apple TV 4K set-top box, updated HomePod minis, and new AirPods.
