Another day, another lawsuit. Two Metro Detroit women are suing Apple, alleging their exes used AirTags to secretly track them, including one hidden in a woman’s car, reports MLive.

The women, identified in court records only as Jane MH Doe-1 and Jane WP Doe-2, filed the lawsuit Monday, Aug. 10, in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. The lawsuit accuses Apple of failing to adequately protect people from being stalked with AirTags.

The women allege Apple knew AirTags could be misused for stalking but released them without adequate safeguards. The lawsuit alleges negligence, defective product design, violations of the Michigan Consumer Protection Act and invasion of privacy, reports MLive. The women are seeking damages and other relief and have requested a jury trial.

Apple AirTags have faced other complaints regarding unwanted tracking and stalking. There have been claims about abusers and thieves hiding the $30 devices in car wheel wells, bags, and pockets to track people without consent. This has led to class-action lawsuits and safety updates from Apple.

As noted by AppleInsider, in 2022, this included a class-action lawsuit that accused Apple’s anti-stalking measures of being inadequate and permitting unlawful tracking. That lawsuit gained dozens more plaintiffs in 2023, and was given permission to proceed in 2024.

However, the class-action suit lost its class certification in March 2026. As of May 2026, plaintiffs refiled separate individual lawsuits in California to continue the legal action.
