iOS 27 will make the Camera app more customizable

There will also be changes to the Weather and Photos apps

Apple plans to make the Camera app more customizable in iOS 27, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Apple plans to make the Camera app more customizable in iOS 27, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.

You’ll be able to choose the features you want to see in the Camera app. These include flash, exposure, timer, depth of field, photo styles, and resolution.

Camera controls will be dubbed “widgets.” You’ll be able to place ‘em at the top of the Camera interface in any order you like. You’ll be able to select widgets from a transparent widget tray that comes up from the bottom of the app. They’ll be organized into categories that include basic, manual, and settings.

Also from Gurman’s report:

° iOS 27 will introduce a new start page with four tabs at the top: favorites, bookmarks, a reading list of saved articles, and browsing history.

° Siri and Apple Intelligence won’t be front and center. They’ll be tucked away until you summon them.

° The Weather app will also add a new “Conditions” section on the main page. This will show users more in-depth data for things like rain and wind.

° Apple Photos is getting new features powered by Apple Intelligence. These include the ability to extend a background or automatically enhance an image.

° iOS 27 will feature a new gesture that will allow users to invoke a system-wide “Search or Ask” feature, with an option to tap a microphone icon to activate voice mode.

iOS 27 — along with macOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 — will be previewed at next month’s Worldwide Developer Conference. Mostly likely, they’ll be available for end users in September or October.
