Apple has strategic reasons for delaying the release of the standard iPhone 18

iPhone 18 concept

The leaker known as “Fixed Digital Focus” says Apple is delaying the release of the standard iPhone 18 for two reasons.

One: to extend the sales window of the iPhone 17. Two: to lower production costs.

In an X post, he/she had this to say: The standard cup will definitely be degraded due to memory, but Apple voluntarily chose to postpone the release to extend the market heat of the previous generation of standard cups, which not only reduced the production cost, but also increased the market share, which is very important.

At one point it was anticipated that Apple would debut the standard iPhone along with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Now the timetable seems to be: the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September or October with the foldable iPhone (the “iPhone Fold” or “iPhone Ultra” shortly thereafter); the standard iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e in early 2027.
