Preparing your Apple Watch for resale? You’ll need to unpair it and erase its data. Here’s how to do it:

To unpair and erase using your iPhone (the recommended method):

  1. Keep the Apple Watch and iPhone close together.
  2. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  3. Go to the My Watch tab and select All Watches at the top.
  4. Tap the info button (i) next to the watch you want to unpair.
  5. Tap Unpair Apple Watch.
  6. For GPS + Cellular models, choose to keep or remove your cellular plan (remove if you are selling it).
  7. Enter your Apple Account password to disable Activation Lock, then tap Unpair

To erase directly on your Apple Watch:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Navigate to General > Reset.
  3. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
  4. Type your passcode, if prompted.
  5. Confirm by tapping Erase All.
