No, wait, the second generation MacBook Neo WON’T have a touchscreen

MacBook Neo

On March 9 it was reported that analysts Ming-Chi Kuo said that the second generation MacBook Neo could have a touchscreen. I said it would happen, and a new rumor agreed with me.

Kuo said Apple has been discussing the specs of a second gen MacBook Neo since September 2025. In addition to a touchscreen, he thinks the second gen of the laptop will (no surprise) pack a faster processor such as the A19 Pro with 12GB of memory.

However, today Kuo has backtracked and said this in a new X post: Neo 2 was originally expected to feature a touch panel to compete with Chromebooks (50%+ of which support touch), but my latest industry checks suggest Neo 2 may not adopt it.

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks the first Mac with a touchscreen — the rumored “MacBook Ultra” — will be the only Mac with a touchscreen for the foreseeable future. The feature will start with higher end Macs and trickle down to lower priced items, in my opinion.
