In macOS Tahoe, the Notes app has native support for importing and exporting Markdown files, allowing seamless integration with other Markdown-based tools.
How to Import Markdown Files
° Open the Notes app on your Mac.
° In the sidebar, select a folder in your iCloud or “On My Mac” account where you want to add the notes.
° From the menu bar, choose File > Import to Notes. (In some cases, the menu option might appear as File > Import Markdown).
° Select the Markdown (.md) file or files you want to import. You can select a folder and click “Preserve folder structure on import” to maintain organization, if applicable.
° Click Import.
How to Export Notes as Markdown
° Open the Notes app on your Mac.
° Click the note you want to export.
° From the menu bar, choose File > Export as > Markdown.
° Choose a location to save the .md file and, optionally, type a new name for the file.
° Click Save.
Limitations:
Apple Notes in macOS Tahoe primarily supports basic Markdown syntax, such as headings, links, and lists.
Advanced elements like tables, footnotes, or diagrams may not render correctly.
Importing Markdown does not currently support images, attachments, or note-to-note links. Attachments are exported to a separate folder.
