Don’t expect to see an iPad Pro with a M6 processor until early 2027.

We won’t see a major update of the iPad Pro until early 2027 Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter.

Then we can expect an updated pro tablet with a M5 processor and perhaps vapor chamber thermal management. This liquid cooling system would help mitigate throttling, especially as the ‌iPad Pro‌ becomes more capable at handling intense workflows.

Vapor chambers are high-performance, two-phase heat spreaders that rapidly dissipate heat from high-power density electronics, reducing thermal resistance by 50% or more compared to solid metal. Using a vacuum-sealed, fluid-filled (usually water) structure, they convert heat to vapor, spreading it to a condenser, and returning liquid via capillary action.

Other than a faster processor and a new cooling system, Gurman doesn’t expect major changes for the next generation of the iPad Pro. For example, he doesn’t foresee an signification design changes.

Power On is exclusively for Bloomberg.com subscribers. Get the full Power On newsletter every week — plus unlimited access to every featured article and a Q&A with Gurman— when you subscribe to the Tech Newsletter Bundle.
