Your Mac not going to sleep anymore? Check Activity Monitor

Is your Mac not going to sleep anymore? Perhaps processes running in the background can prevent it from napping.

If so, you should check Activity Monitor to see if a process is unexpectedly using your Mac computer’s central processing unit (CPU).

Go to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor. There’s a column in Activity Monitor that can prevent it from going into sleep mode. Make sure none of your apps have “Yes” ticked next to the Preventing Sleep column. Quit any app that has the “Yes” button enabled.
