A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says we may see an M6 chip sooner than expected.
Previously, it was anticipated that we wouldn’t see the chip until late 2026 at the earliest. It was anticipated to arrive with a new MacBook Pro that would also sport a thinner OLED screen, the first touchscreen on a Mac, and perhaps cellular connectivity options.
However, Gurman writes: I think the M6 chip is potentially coming sooner than people anticipate. Not necessarily in these next laptops, but still in the near future in some configurations. Apple released the M5 processor in October in three devices. Though it might seem soon for an M6, there was only a five-month gap between the M3 and M4.
I’d love to think that we’d see the OLED MacBook Pro earlier than expected. However, I think there’s a chance that the M6 processor might appear first in the iPad Pro. After all, that’s what Apple did with the M4 processor back in 2024.
