The upcoming “iPhone Fold” will feature a series of design and hardware firsts for Apple, according to the Weibo leaker known as Digital Chat Station — as noted by MacRumors. Among the features he/she claims are:
° It will be a horizontally oriented, book-style foldable with a large internal display.
° The design will prioritize thinness, so there will be a side-mounted Touch ID fingerprint sensor, but no Face ID or an under-display fingerprint sensor.
° Apple is placing great emphasis on hinger durability and crease reduction.
° The current prototype has a 7.58-inch internal display with an under-panel, front-facing camera.
° The external display will have a 5.25-inch camera with a punch-hole camera implemented via a HIAA (Hole-In-Active-Area) design.
° The foldable iPhone will pack a a dual 48-megapixel rear camera system described as having a “large base.”
The iPhone Fold is expected to ship in the last half of 2026 with a price tag of around US$2,400. Here’s a round-up of other rumors concerning it:
° It may have the biggest-ever battery in an iPhone.
° The rear camera will feature a dual-lens setup, with one front-facing camera available in both folded and unfolded states.
° It will measure 9–9.5mm thick when folded and 4.5–4.8mm when unfolded.
° The hinge will combine stainless steel and titanium alloy, while the casing opts for titanium alloy.
° It will use the same high-density battery cells as the ultra-thin iPhone 17.
