Apple could debut LOFIC camera sensor technology in its 2027 iPhone lineup (which includes a 20th anniversary version of the smartphone), claims the leaker known as”yeux1122” on the Korean Naver site.
As noted by MacRumors, LOFIC, or Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, is a next-generation imaging technology that enables each pixel to store varying amounts of light based on scene brightness. This allows a sensor to capture detail in both bright highlights and dark shadows within a single frame, potentially reaching up to 20 stops of dynamic range – comparable to high-end cinema cameras and approaching the range of human vision.
Also, the 20th anniversary iPhone will adopt a Samsung-made OLED technology called COE (Color Filter on Encapsulation) to make the display brighter and thinner than previous panels, according to ETNews.
“Apple plans to apply COE to bar-type smartphones in 2027 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone launch,” an unnamed “industry official” told the publication.
