Smartish recently sent us several cases for the new iPhone 18 Pro Max. I’m inundated with cases from multiple companies, and there’s not enough time in the world to review them separately. So I’m picking out my favorite case from each company.
When it comes to Smartish, it’s the US$19.99 Gripmunk. It’s one of the company’s long-time products for a reasons. Its textured sides, cushioned air-pocket corners, and raised edges help protect your iPhone from everyday drops without adding a lot of bulk. This year, Gripmunk gets a fresh new look in Liquid Sky. A cool and fluid blend of color inspired by the last light before sunset, it’s one of my favorite hues.
The Gripmunk offers great “grippability” without being sticky. The folks at Smartish says the case was drop-tested 50 times from 6 feet with no iPhone damage. However, as I always says, since I pay my hard-earned dollars for my iPhone, I’m not going to test this. You’ll have to take Smartish’s word for it.
However, built-in air pockets in corners act like mini shock absorbers while raised edges form a safety buffer around your screen and lenses, so there are those bits of extra protection.
The Gripmunk is MagSafe compatible, which is pretty much a requirement (at least fo rme) when it comes to iPhone cases. And it offers full and easy access to the Camera Control Button.
The Gripmunk is sleek enough that you can slide it easily into pockets, purses, or gym bags without bulk. And its price (US$19.99) is unbeatable for what you get.
