We could see a tweaked Apple Vision Pro this year, another in 2026

Apple’s Vision Pro headset will be updated next year with Apple’s R2 chip, according to the Taiwan publication, the Commercial Times. 

It will be fabricated with TSMC’s latest 2nm process. along with A20 chips for iPhones, and M6 chips for Macs, then article adds. The R2 would be the followup to the (of course) R1 in the current Vision Pro.

If the Times’ report is correct, it sounds as if we may see Vision Pro updates both this year and next. The rumor mill says that the spatial computer will be updated with an M4 or M5 processor this year. If this happens, it could be followed by an R1 Vision Pro in 2026.

When it comes to further follow-ups to the Apple Vision Pro, the rumors are all over the place. Both Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have said that Apple is working on a less expensive spatial computer (which could be the “Vision Air”) that may not arrive until 2027. 

Gurman said that Apple will lower the price by using a less powerful processor and more plastic, less aluminum and glass. Gurman added that the next version of the spatial computer will also drop the EyeSight feature. EyeSight reveals your eyes on the front of your Apple Vision Pro, and lets those nearby know when you’re using apps or fully immersed in an experience.

A “Vision Air” could also require tethering to a Mac or iPad for power.
