Apple may launch its smart glasses in late 2026 or early 2027 with limited features, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter.
He thinks the first version of the “Apple Glasses” will be designed as a competition to Meta’s Ray-Bands instead of offering a full augmented reality experience as some have anticipated. Gurman says the first version of the smart glasses will be a display-less version with cameras for video recording and some form of audio system for playback and recording.
He adds that the Apple Glasses will require connection to an iPhone for processing. Gurman thinks a version of the smart glasses that will support seeing augmented reality data through the lenses of the glasses is still years away.
