iOS 14 added a new Translate feature for Safari that’s, per Apple. “designed to be the best and easiest app for translating conversations, offering quick and natural translation of voice and text among 11 different languages.”

Its on-device mode allows users to experience the features of the app offline for private voice and text translation. To use the Translate feature in Safari on iOS 16:

  1. Open Safari and navigate to the webpage: Launch the Safari app and go to the website you want to translate.
  2. Access the Translate option: Tap the “aA” icon (or a square-looking icon) in the address bar.
  3. Choose the target language: From the dropdown menu, select the language you want to translate the page to.
  4. Enable translation (if needed): If prompted, tap “Enable Translation”.
  5. View the translated page: Safari will refresh and display the content in the selected language.
  6. Return to original language (optional): You can always revert to the original language by tapping the “aA” icon and selecting “View Original”.
