Apple rumored to have ditched plans for an Apple Watch with a camera

Apple has ditched its plans (at least for now) to release an Apple Watch with a camera, reports Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Apple has ditched its plans (at least for now) to release an Apple Watch with a camera, reports Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. The camera would purportedly have been used to get info about objets and places near a user.

On May 8, Gurman said that the tech giant is working on versions of the AirPods and Apple Watch that incorporate a camera, and the devices could be ready to launch sometime around 2027.

Apple has purportedly developed a chip codenamed “Nevis” that will be used for its camera-equipped Apple Watch. A chip codenamed “Glennie” will be incorporated into the AirPods, Gurman said on May 8.

He says that it’s unclear why Apple canceled the Apple Watch plans, but the camera-equipped AirPods are still being worked on.
