It’s possible that, with AI flourishing, you may not need an iPhone in 10 years

With Apple looking at reworking Safari to directly support AI-powered search services, the day may be coming when no one needs an iPhone.

During court proceedings in the Google antitrust case, Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet search and services, said this was possible, according to Bloomberg. Since this comment was part of a larger discussion regarding AI, search engines, Safari, and more, it’s likely an off-the-cuff comment, but is still interesting.

“You may not need an iPhone 10 years from now as crazy as it sounds,” Cue said. “The only way you truly have true competition is when you have technology shifts. Technology shifts create these opportunities. AI is a new technology shift, and it’s creating new opportunities for new entrants.”
