Rumor claims ‘iPhone Fold’ has entered the formal development process

I’m dubious but the leaker know as Yeux1122 claims a foldable iPhone has been now entered the formal development process.

I’ve long been skeptical that Apple will develop a foldable smartphone, though, admittedly, the company has been granted several patents for such a device. On the other hand, global foldable smartphone shipments decreased 1% year-over-year (YoY) in the third quarter, marking the market’s first-ever quarter three decline, according to Counterpoint Research — and Apple is certainly aware of this.

“The global foldable market appears to have entered a transitionary phase where it is facing challenges as it progresses from a niche segment to the mainstream,” says Senior Analyst at Counterpoint Jene Park. “User satisfaction is particularly high with book-type foldable devices, but the prohibitively high prices remain the biggest obstacle to mass adoption. If manufacturers give serious consideration to improving price accessibility, along with achieving further technological reliability and enhancing consumer perceptions, this phase can be overcome.”
