Apple retail stores in Bordeaux and Lille were looted earlier this week amid unrest accompanying demonstrations against the high cost of living in France, reports the French language site Boursorama.
According to the Agence France-Presse’’s offices in the region, in Lille an Optic 2000 store, the Sephora de la Grand Place, the Apple Store and a Carrefour City were looted or ransacked, as well as a branch of the Postal Bank, and even the Lille football club shop, the LOSC.
France is experiencing its worst civil unrest in years following nationwide protests over the cost of living and school conditions that spiraled into violent riots and mass looting on October 17–18. The government arrested nearly 2,400 people, imposed emergency overnight curfews in Paris, Marseille, Nice, Bordeaux, and Lille, and faced intense political pressure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
