An update of the Apple TV 4K set-top box will be equipped with an A19 or A19 Pro chip, according to evidence in Apple’s code uncovered by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris.
This means it should have 8GB or 12GB of RAM, up from 4GB in the current 2022 model with the A15 Bionic chip, the article adds. This also means that it’s likely Apple is planning to make Siri AI a draw for the upgraded set-top box.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman thinks the next Apple TV 4K — as well as new HomePod minis — will sport an Apple-designed Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip. The chip will support Wi-Fi 6E, though Apple may not be able to match all of Broadcom’s chip capabilities with the first-generation in-house Wi-Fi chip.
A new Apple TV 4K — alongside a new Siri Remote — could be announced at tomorrow’s “Surprise and Shine” event. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The foldable iPhone is likely to debut at the same time, though some reports have said it wouldn’t arrive until October.
Also likely to be announced at event are an Apple Watch Series 12, the Apple Watch Ultra 4, and new AirPods.
Apple will stream the “Surprise and Shine” event on YouTube, on the Apple Events website, and in the Apple TV app.
