Peacock has raised the prices of all three subscription tiers, with increases of up to US$3 per month or $30 per year. I’m canceling my subscription for this and other reasons.
The Select option (with ads) is $8.99 per month. The Premium option is $12.99 per month; it has ads, but also has live spots and events. The Premium Plus option (no ads, extra channels) is $19.99 per month.
I have …. er, had … the Select option. However, I’m tired of having shows and movies pop up among the showcased selections only to get a blurb telling me I have to pay extra for them. I’m not going to pay $12.99 per month for the Premium option and still have to watch ads. As for the Premium Plus choice, well, I don’t watch enough Peacock content to make it worthwhile.
Currently, I still have subscriptions to Apple TV, Netflix, Prime Video, and MGM. Some of these may be canceled if the prices keep rising and the ads keep increasing.
There are rumors that Apple is considering an ad-supported version of Apple TV. If that’s true, I hope the tech giant does it with more finesse than Peacock implemented.
I hope you’ll help support Apple World Today by becoming a patron. Almost all our income is from Patreon support and sponsored posts. Patreon pricing ranges from $2 to $10 a month. Thanks in advance for your support.
